About me
Where fiction meets reality...
Hi there,
I'm Ritalin Girl. I like to think of myself as a typical late-diagnosis female with ADHD. Scattered, passionate, with a fractured employment history and addictive tendencies. I was diagnosed around the age of 23 and put on a 6-year waitlist before I could receive treatment. Eventually the day came and medication without any shadow of a doubt changed my life. Impulsive decision-making was suddenly taken down a notch, I became a safe driver, family clashes and arguments became a thing of the past and my relationships improved. It was magic in a pill.
Then in February 2024 I lost my job as temporary disposable office admin bitch and unfortunately those several years of my twenties which I'd lived unmedicated and thriving in unorthodox chaos (AKA job hopping) didn't serve me any favours in terms of finding my next gig. I'd been mulling over my alter ego for some time... Ritalin Girl had been on my mind back in 2021 when we were living through the lockdown apocalypse and I decided it was time for Ritalin Girl to bite the bullet and make her debut.
So here she is... Whilst ADHD is a spectrum condition and her experiences and challenges won't be reflective of all those with ADHD, I hope in some way she is relatable. Every person with ADHD is unique.
Happy reading,
Ritalin Girl xo
